Summary 

Spinoza and the Problem of Money. This paper traces Baruch Spinoza’s relationship to the subject of money, both in his theoretical writings and correspondence and in his life. It turns out that this is not a topic that Spinoza dealt with extensively or in depth. Nevertheless, some interesting insights and related arguments can be found in his work. The paper also presents information on the major vicissitudes of Spinoza’s life that show his relationship to real money, that is, not to money as a theoretical concept.

Příspěvek mapuje vztah Barucha Spinozy k tématu peněz, a to jak v jeho teoretických spisech a korespondenci, tak v jeho životě. Ukazuje se, že nejde o téma, kterým by se Spinoza zabýval široce ani do hloubky. Přesto lze v jeho díle nalézt několik zajímavých postřehů a s nimi souvisejících argumentů. Článek předkládá rovněž informace o zásadních peripetiích Spinozova života, jež ukazují jeho vztah k penězům skutečným, tedy nikoli k penězům jako teoretickému konceptu.
